12IA × CINTRACT COLLABORATION

Posted on2022-05-05

For our first collaboration we’ve chosen to work with French artist DAVID CINTRACT.
Artist David Cintract, born in 1970, is a painter, visual artist, sculptor and photographer. He created the bold “POP LIBRE” movement. Midway between Warhol and Lichtenstein, David Cintract takes inspiration from current events, cinema and graphic novels for his dynamic and poetic works, where joy is matched only by the deep questions and symbols that his work commands.

=> Interview:

·  David Cintract, how would you describe your art?

I am a painter, visual artist, sculptor and photographer. I created the “Pop Libre” movement, which is actually more a state of mind than an artistic movement in the classic sense of the term.
I’m fascinated by exuberant sculpture and by bringing works together in an “Ali Baba’s cave”-type setting.

I’m inspired by current affairs and social issues. My work embodies all of the ambiguities of an out-of-sync and childlike artistic world, where optimism is tainted by tragedy.
Bright colors and motifs, exuberance and infectious joy, but also deep questions and symbols are my trademarks.

·  Why did you decide to work with an emerging brand such as 12IA?

It all developed from a fortuitous encounter with Christophe and his new clothing brand project.
What I loved were his commitment to quality and his vision for the brand as “free and bold”.

·  What do you think of the end products?

I worked closely with stylist Poly Tuy and with Christophe and his team on the visuals and fabrics to create a unique 12IA × CINTRACT collection focused on art.
I was able to see the quality of the materials and the finish, which correspond to my vision for the clothes.

·  And your upcoming projects?

For the winter season I’m preparing various exhibitions with partner galleries such as the Saint Martin Galleries, as well as collaborations with luxury hotels.
I’m also working on some new monumental pieces.
